The ladies of Faith have been extremely busy sewing quilts for children in Tarrant County health care facilities. They have donated many
hours to help make life a little easier for others. Some of our ladies donate their time to WestAid. They are helping
the less fortunate get their everyday needs. WestAid is a food bank that Faith is a member of. It is sponsored
by the churches on the west side of Fort Worth. Along with food they also help families with rent, utilities, medicine,
and gasoline, when funds are available.
Sewing
Faith’s volunteers contribute their quilts to Project Linus. This is a national organization that distributes the quilts to seriously ill, severely disadvantaged, abused or orphaned babies and young children. These quilts give comfort and security to those that receive them. Some of the quilts were even sent to victims of the hurricanes.
In the past we have made quilts for the Nelson Center and bedrolls for the homeless. All our projects are a labor of love for these unfortunate people.
Our time together isn’t all work; we also enjoy fellowship at 9:00 a.m. the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. Everyone is welcome to come and participate.
Knitters (the Purls)
Our knitters (the Purls) meet on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. They knit hats for Fort Worth’s homeless population, aw well as cancer patients and premature babies. The Purls started their hat ministry in 1999 and have delivered over 4,000 items to the Nelson Children’s Home, the Presbyterian Night Shelter, the Lowden-Schuttes Women and Children’s Shelter, the Day Resource Center, the Salvation Army, Cancer Care Services, and the Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. Included are hats and booties for premature babies the John Peter Smith Hospital and Harris Hospital. We invite anyone interested to join our group.
Please contact the Church office for more information about how our Ladies of Faith support the community. |
