Hello! My name is Pastor Janet Constantine. By the grace of God in Christ Jesus and the working of the Holy Spirit, I am the Pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, Fort Worth! It has been an interesting journey that has brought me to this time and place. I certainly would not have predicted that my life would include this wonderful opportunity. It is evidence that God works in our lives in ways that surprise us with new blessings all the time.

I sent an announcement of my recent ordination to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, where I was baptized in September of 1950. I probably slept or cried through the whole thing, but it was certainly the most significant event in my life. I died in those baptismal waters, was reborn into the resurrection of Christ and was welcomed into the body of Christ, the Christian Church on earth. We should never take lightly those baptismal waters. Every time we pour that water onto someone, we change the church. It may be a long time before we find out just how much change there will be. It may be some time before we see just what God has in mind for that new Christian. But we know, by our faith that God has granted grace to yet another one created in God’s image. We know that God will always be faithful to the promises of that baptismal covenant. It is a means of grace to look for God in our lives and the lives of all the baptized.

I lived in the Mid-Atlantic States until I was ten. After that my family lived in the Dallas area. We attended St. Luke’s in Richardson, where I was confirmed, and participated in Luther League, choir and Leadership Training School at Texas Lutheran College. I went to Richardson High School where I played clarinet in the band as my main activity. After high school, I went to Texas Woman’s University, and graduated in 1972 with my degree in nursing.

I have enjoyed a 34-year nursing career in a variety of places and jobs. What blessings God bestowed on me over the years, in patients that I met, other nurses and staff, and countless opportunities to help people toward wholeness!

In 1975 I moved to New York, and then after marriage to Connecticut, had two sons and then moved on to Vermont. In 1992 I returned to Texas. My oldest son Paul graduated from North Texas, and is now at Stanford University in California, working on his Ph.D. in mathematics. Robert is in the telecommunications business in Dallas, and plays several sports.

My call to ministry is another chapter in my life of God leading, my resisting, then understanding and following. I’ve learned a lot about myself along the way, and a lot about discernment. Most of all I’ve been constantly reminded of the faithfulness of God to his promises.

Come and See! Come and join us as we discover the actions of our gracious and loving God in the world around us, and draw strength for all situations from God’s presence in our lives. Come and experience the love of Christ acted out in our hospitality to newcomers and our caring for each other.
