Faith in Fort Worth is a congregation of about 115 families, or nearly 300 folks who are laid back, easy going and enjoy each other’s company. We laugh and cry, learn and grow together, trusting in God's care, and sharing his love. We are not so much a "community church" since many of our folks live in a number of areas in our city. Thus, our gatherings together for worship, fellowship or play mean all the more to us. The congregation was founded in 1956 in what was then the "boondocks" of a growing West side of the city. While the area has grown and developed, we are still seeing much new growth of homes and businesses close to us. We are located conveniently on Southwest Boulevard, which is highway US 183-sort of half way between Hulen and Ridgmar Malls (map). From the start, the congregation drew folks from the nearby Air Force base, and from the many workers at what was then General Dynamics. Over the last few years, of course, the base has completely changed its operations, and General Dynamics has become Lockheed and employs less than one third of what it did in years past. These factors have colored the life of our community, and equally, our church. Some of us are native Texans, but many more have come from various parts of our country, and you might just hear an "uff da" now and again. All ages are well represented in our church family. We are seeing a good many more youngsters lately, but not so many teens. We have an active, thriving retired population, along with a good number of mid-life folks and younger couples too.
